Bio Notes: Michael John Boucicault de Suffield Calthrop studied architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. He was the Recognised Schools Bronze Medallist in 1955. In 1958 he was appointed Research Assistant to Sir Robert Matthew and in 1959 he took up a research post with Edinburgh University Housing Research Unit. In 1961 he was elected ARIBA and in 1962 was awarded the Harkness Fellowship in Architecture and Planning in the USA. In 1965 he won the competition for housing at Bedmond Green for Watford RDC. In 1970 he was in practice on his own at 38 Northumberland Street in Edinburgh. He formed a partnership with A Campbell Mars sometime before 1975. The partnership was dissolved sometime before 1984 at which point Campbell Mars practised on his own.

Calthrop died on 14 October 2010 14th October 2010 at Buis les Baronnies, France. He was survived by his three daughters and his son.
