Basic Biographical Details Name: | William Douglas Loudon | Designation: | | Born: | 1 January 1910 | Died: | 28 January 1992 | Bio Notes: | William Douglas Loudon was born on 1 January 1910, the son of Alexander Loudon, tailor, and his wife, Agnes Sharp Sneddon. He was apprenticed to James Davidson & Son of Coatbridge from 1929 to 1934, studying at Coatbridge Technical College from 1929 to 1932 and at the Royal Technical College, Glasgow from 1932 to 1935. He passed the final exam in Edinburgh in December 1943 and was admitted ARIBA on 18 April 1944, his proposers being J Maurice Arthur, Alexander Wright and another (A B Maltoker?). At that time he was working in Airdrie Burgh Engineer's Department. He worked in Local Government service for the rest of his life, and retired in 1974, withdrawing from the RIBA at that date.
