Bio Notes: Ian Gordon McHattie Hay was born on 15 February 1917, the son of John Hay, publican, and his wife Jean Gordon. He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1940 and was admitted ARIBA in 1949. He gave an address in Inverness in 1950. In 1979 he had a post with the Scottish Health Services Common Services Agency in Inverness.

He died at Clachnaharry Nursing Home, Clachnaharry Road, Inverness, on 8 October 2004. His wife, Ishbel Jean MacKenzie, a secretary in an architect's office, had predeceased him but he was survived by his son Kenneth who lived in Leeds.
