Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Ramsay Cowieson | Designation: | | Born: | 24 February 1916 | Died: | 12 October 2000 | Bio Notes: | John Ramsay Cowieson was born on 24 February 1916, the son of David John Cowieson, furniture warehouseman's manager, and his wife Zara Elliott Wollage. He studied at the School of Architecture in Aberdeen and was elected ARIBA in 1948. He gave his address as Cawdor Road, Inverness in 1950. In the mid-1950s he was living in Bridge of Don, Aberdeenshire. However by 1956-57 he had a post with Glenrothes New Town Development Corporation and remained there until about 1960.
By 1964 he had a post with Fife County Architect's Department and was living in Cupar. He was still working with the Department in 1979.
At the time of his death on 12 October 2000 at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee he was a retired Associate member of the Dundee chapter of the RIAS. He was survived by his wife Betty Phyllis Violet Le Grys, a retired state registered nurse, his son and daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
