Bio Notes: William Hugh MacKenzie Small was born on 24 July 1924, the son of William Small, civil servant and his wife, Elsie Barnet Aytoun-Young. He studied architecture in Dundee and was admitted ARIBA in 1949. In 1950 his address was Wingfield, Crail. He had moved to West Linton by 1960. By 1970 he was a partner in the practice Campbell & Arnott in Edinburgh. He had retired before 1979. He married twice, first to Christian Wylie Rintoul and second to Agnes Eleanore Band.

Small retired to Applecross and died at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness on 2 September 1998. His son David reported his death.
