Bio Notes: Alastair Macintyre was the son of the rector of St John's Epsicopal Church in Dumfries and later a Canon, and his wife, Vera Kate Oswald Beatson. He studied at the School of Architecture in Liverpool where he was awarded the degree of BArch. He was admitted ARIBA in 1950. He was Dumfries County Architect from 1972-75.

Macintyre died on 2 January 1996, survived his wife Doreen Cecilia Brown and at least one son who was living in Australia at the time of his father's death.
