Bio Notes: John Cochrane Russell was born on 29 December 1905, the son of John Russell, spirit merchant, and his wife Margaret Urie Cochrane. He was not a member of the RIBA in about 1953. His career would appear to have been spent with local authorities. In 1951 he would seem to have been Master of Works in Millport on Bute and from 1952 he was Burgh Surveyor in Rutherglen.

As yet his subsequent moves, if any, are not charted but at the time of his death he was living in Glasgow. He died on 14 November 1992 at the Victoria Infirmary annexe in Glasgow from cardio-respiratory arrest. He was survived by his wife Elizabeth Calderwood Philip.
