Bio Notes: Thomas Bell Main was was born on 20 April 1917, the son of John Main, estimating clerk, and his wife Jean Rowat Wilson. He was admitted ARIBA in 1948 and FRIAS in 1954. He was resident in Airdrie in 1950.

In 1947 John Thomson King took over the practice James Austen Laird & Partners and the firm then practiced as J T King. About a year later Thomas Bell Main was taken into partnership and in the 1950s Eric D Ellison joined them as partner. In 1955 the practice name changed to J Thomson King & Partners and in 1964 it became King Main & Ellison. In 1971 James S Inglis was taken into partnership followed by Hugh Taylor and Robert Barbour in 1978.

Main was still working in the practice in 1979 but does not appear in the directories in 1987.

He died in Monklands General Hospital Airdrie on 23 February 1992. He was survived by his wife Frances Cleland Smith and his daughter.
