Basic Biographical Details Name: | Peter Orr Forsyth | Designation: | | Born: | 2 October 1927 | Died: | 11 April 2008 | Bio Notes: | Peter Orr Forsyth was born in Galston, Ayrshire, on 2 October 1927, the son of James Forsyth, motor mechanic, and his wife Mainnie Young Orr. He studied architecture at Glasgow Scool of Art and was admitted ARIBA in 1949. In 1951-52 he had a post with Ayrshire County Council.
In 1952 he emigrated to Southern Rhodesia where he later became Chief Architect to the Southern Rhodesian Government. In 1965 he moved to South Africa where he had a post with Cape Town City Council. He subsequently moved on to serve with Bisset & Co designing BP service stations. After that he joined the firm of Colyn & Meiring achitects. For a period of time prior to his retirement in 1989 he was chief architect to South African Airways.
Forsyth died on 11 April 2008.
