Bio Notes: John Reid Oberlander, known as 'Jack', was born on 25 July 1927. He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1953 and studied at the School of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art graduating from the diploma course in 1954. He was admitted ARIBA in 1957 and ARIAS in that same year. His first post was in the Architects’ Department of the South-East Regional Hospital Board. He then joined the practice of Alan Reiach in 1958 and in 1967 became a partner in the combined practice Alan Reiach, Eric Hall & Partners. He left the partnership in 1983 to set up his own practice, Oberlander Associates. He was elected FRIBA in 1985.

He retired in 1992.
