Basic Biographical Details Name: | Robert William Marwick | Designation: | | Born: | 20 August 1936 | Died: | 10 May 2015 | Bio Notes: | Robert ('Robin') William Marwick was born on 20 August 1936. He served his articles in the practice of James Davidson & Sons, Coatbridge while studying part-time at Glasgow School of Art. He was admitted ARIBA and ARIAS in 1963. In 1966 he was assumed into partnership in the James Davidson & Son practice. He remained with the firm throughout his whole career retiring as Principal in 2002 at the age of 65. The practice undertook a wide variety of work including residential developments, local authority projects, swimming baths, churches, commercial and industrial work and theatres.
Outwith his work, Marwick had many interests. He was a life-long supporter of Albion Rovers and served as Chairman as well as being the club historian in which capacity he published two books. He was a member of the Rotary Club, a Community Councillor, a member of the local hospital board, and JP. He enjoyed tennis and bowling. He was property convener of his local church and also property consultant to Hamilton Presbytery, one of his particular interests being the conservation of historic buildings. He always enjoyed travel, particularly to exotic places but most family holidays were spent on the Isle of Bute.
