It subsequently became James Parr & Associates in 1960 and a few years later (1962 in some sources, though others suggest a date after 1964) James Parr & Partners. In 1975 the firm split and Alan Bell, Gordon Farquharson and David D Bell all left. Alan J Duncan was taken into partnership followed in 1977 by Alfred Maloco, Daniel A Carmichael and Iain A G Rennie, in 1982 by Victor Hamilton, in 1989 by Robert Hall and in 1990 by Hugh Dykes.
In 1975 offices were established in Edinburgh, in 1974 in Greenock and Aberdeen and in 1975 in Inverness, in 1986 in Rosyth and in 1990 in Durham. In 1978 the practice won a Perth Civic Trust Commendation and the International Prize for Architects.
