Bio Notes: Charles Edward Simpson was born on 27 February 1938, the son of Edward Simpson, bank teller and his wife Elizabeth Mann Mortimer. He studied for the Diploma in Architecture in Aberdeen. He was elected ARIBA in 1963. He joined Thomson Taylor Craig & Donald in the late 1970s, becoming a partner in 1980.

Ian Thomson, Thomas (Tom) Craig and Robin Donald established a practice in Aberdeen as Thomson Craig & Donald with an office at 59 Dee Street. The practice moved to Carden Terrace a year later. By 1970 Angus Taylor was a partner, the practice name changing to Thomson, Taylor Craig & Donald. In 1979 David Miller was assumed into partnership, followed in 1980 by Alistair Hay and Simpson and in 1984 by Donald Coutts and Frank Robertson.

Simpson died of heart disease on 2 February 1997 at The Stables, Glassel Road, Inchmarlo, Banchory. His wife Gladys Helen Wilson, school teacher, had predeceased him but his son survived him.
