Basic Biographical Details Name: | Maxwell Fordyce Christie | Designation: | | Born: | 28 October 1908 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Maxwell Fordyce Christie was born at 2 Church Terrace, Turriff, Aberdeenshire on 28 October 1908, the son of Peter Christie, builder and his wife, Helen Ann Rankine who had married in Aberdeen in 1906. He served a three-year apprenticeship with Jenkins & Marr of Aberdeen from August 1927 while taking evening classes at Robert Gordon College, and then studied at the college for three years full-time, sitting the final exam in June 1933. He was admitted ARIBA on 13 August 1940, his proposers being William Liddle Duncan, R Leslie Rollo and John G Marr. At that time he was working for the Department of Agriculture for Scotland.
In 1950-51 he was living at 5 Hammersmith Road, Aberdeen. In January 1959 Christie and his wife Eleanor sailed from Southampton to Madeira.
He does not appear in the RIBA Directory of 1970, and his RIBA membership ceased in 1976.
