He seems to have had a distinguished military career and had been awarded the MC during World War 2. He studied architecture at Aberdeen School of Art. He was admitted ARIBA in 1948 and FRIAS in 1959. He was also a qualified surveyor. He joined the George Bennett Mitchell practice as partner in 1971. He was a Vice President of the RIAS in 1964-65, representing the Aberdeen Chapter.
He died at home in Kingussie on 1 March 1989.
