Bio Notes: Ernest Ronald Harrison was born on 21 November 1915, te son of Ernest Young Harrison, civil engineer and his wife, Celia Mary Cooper. He studied on the diploma course at the Glasgow School of Architecture from September 1933 to June 1938. In 1934-5 he was engaged on hospital building as an assistant to an unspecified master of works, and he spent holidays travelling and sketching in Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden. He received his diploma in June 1938 and passed the professional practice exam in Edinburgh on 20 July that year. By September he had found an appointment in the office of Leslie Grahame-Thomson & Connell, and he was admitted ARIBA on 5 December, his proposers being Thomas Harold Hughes, William James Smith and William Ross.

By the following year, 1939, he had moved to London although it is not clear in which office he was working as the address given in the RIBA Kalendar of that year appears to be a private one. He moved to Aberdeen sometime in the 1940s and remained there thereafter. He resigned his RIBA membership on 21 May 1981.

Harrison died on 5 September 2007 at Woodend Hospital, Aberdeen. His wife Thersia Voggeneder who had been a lady's companion, had predeceased him.
