Bio Notes: John Carver senior was born in about 1781, the son of Peter Carver, joiner, and his wife Cecelia Ogilvie. He practised as an architect and surveyor and owned the estate of Carverfield, Kinloch which was 6 acres in size. He died 27 February 1858. His wife, Elizabeth, had predeceased him.

Carver was the father of John Carver, architect (1834-96) and the uncle of his son's cousin, David Carver (1803-1878).
