Bio Notes: Robert Carstairs Reid was a civil engineer. He married a daughter of the civil engineer James Leslie, and they had at least one son, Robert Stirling Reid (born 12 March 1883), who became an architect.

Robert Carstairs Reid was taken into partnership in his father-in-law's firm and continued it after Leslie's death in 1889, in conjunction with Leslie's son Alexander, as J & A Leslie & Reid.
