Bio Notes: Eileen May Sherwell was born in Berkshire on 11 January 1911 and attended the diploma course at the Edinburgh College of Art under John Begg from 1929. She worked as an assistant to Thomas McCrae of 29 Hanover Street from September 1934 to September 1935, and was admitted ARIBA on 10 February 1936, her proposers being Begg, James Inch Morrison and Thomas Forbes Maclennan. Her nomination papers do not give a business address but her home address at the time of her application for admittance was 13 Midmar Gardens, Edinburgh. Her declaration accepting her admittance was witnessed on 18 February 1936 by Jane Heal of 22 Sherwood Road, Hendon, London, suggesting that Sherwell had moved to London by that time.

She remained in London coninuing to live at Hendon. She married in early 1943, her married name being Goodman. She died in Somerset in 2003. Her death was registered in October of that year.
