Bio Notes: The Scottish-born architect _____ Ramsay may have been the son of the Rev William Ramsay of Crieff (forename not given) who was admitted to the Trustees' Academy in Edinburgh on 16 November 1849 on the recommendation of Thomas Brown Junior, but left on 24 April of the following year. He designed the extremely accomplished St Edward's RC Church, Clifford, West Yorkshire. He travelled on the continent and produced an ideal church design which was bought for £50 by a Roman Catholic gentleman from Yorkshire: this was adopted by Mrs Grimston and the priest at Clifford, Father Clifford, and given to Joseph Aloysius Hansom to execute in 1845-8.
