He lived and practised as an architect from Langtongate, Duns, Berwickshire in the 1920s and 1930s. He was presumably related to the earlier David Duns and George Duns, and was probably the father of the second George Duns whom he took into partnership on 8 April 1932, the practice title changing to Messrs Walter Duns, Architects.
Walter Duns died on 1 April 1944 at Gartmohr, Inverkeithing which was probably the home of his nephew. (We know his bephew lived in Inverkeithing).
