In 1908 he seems to have been in some kind of partnership with John McIntyre in Edinburgh. He practised as an architect from his father's house at 3 Wester Coates Avenue from 1909-1910 thereafter at various Edinburgh addresses. He seems to have helped his mother in the family business after the death of his father in 1927. At that time the business was at 18 Hamilton Place, Stockbridge.
