Basic Biographical Details Name: | George Gerard Howard | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | | Bio Notes: | George Gerard Howard was articled to Thomas Lennox Watson in September 1912. He attended classes at Glasgow School of Architecture from 1914, and in January 1915 transferred to the office of James Campbell Reid. He commenced war service in March 1916 and was demobilised in January 1919, following which he spent three weeks touring Paris and its environs. It is not clear whether he withdrew from the profession for some time thereafter or whether he returned to Reid's office, but in November 1920 he entered the office of Crawley & Partners of Glasgow and London as assistant. He remained there until March 1922 and attended Glasgow School of Architecture full-time for the following session, from 1922 to 1923. During this period he passed the qualifying exam in London.
He was admitted ARIBA in mid-1923, his proposers being Charles Gourlay, William John Blain and David Bateman Hutton.
