Basic Biographical Details Name: | St Ogger & Halliday | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | 20 December 1882 | Bio Notes: | St Ogger & Halliday were architects and civil engineers who practised from 42 George Street, Edinburgh.
Frank St Ogger was the anglised name of Anton Franz Stumphogger. He was born about 1848. We do not yet know the circumstances of his move from his native country, presumably Germany, but he was certainly in Scotland in 1878 when he married Isabella McGlashan Lessels, daughter of the architect John Lessels Frank appears to have worked for some years as an architect and engineer and formed a brief partnership in about 1882 with James Halliday. Little is yet known of James Halliday other than some of his jobs and that he practised in Dumfriesshire. He formed a brief partnership with James Barbour in Ediinburgh, remaining there for only one year. Halliday formed an equally brief partnership with Frank St Ogger.
Frank St Ogger and Isabella McGlashan Lessels had two sons, John A Frank Lessels St Ogger, born in 1881 and Frank, who was born on 15 January 1883. His father had never saw his second son as he had died at the early age of 34 on 20 December of the previous year at 21 Heriot Row. The usual residence of the family was St John's Corstorphine. Isabella did not survive long as she died on 3 November 1884 aged 38 at Marchmont Terrace.
After Frank St Ogger's death his practice continued as St Ogger & Co, presumably run by his senior assistants. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | 42, George Street, Edinburgh, Scotland | Business | 1882 | | |
