Bio Notes: James Neil was practising as an architect at 95 Douglas Street, Glasgow in 1939. He was an Associate of the Glasgow Institute of Architects at that time. He is very probably the same as James Neil who moved to Greenock and was taken into partnership by Douglas Lindsay Crawford in 1950 under the name Crawford & Neil. Crawford had previously been a partner in the long-established practice of Stewart Tough & Alexander and had become sole partner in about 1950. When Neil was taken into partnership the name changed to Crawford & Neil. Neil was never a member of the RIBA.

Neil retired in 1970.
