Bio Notes: William Gray was born on 15 August 1912, the son of George Alexander Gray, blacksmith, and his wife Julia Gibb. He was a Fellow of the Stirling Society of Architects by 1939-40, at which time he was serving on its Council. At that date his address was 24 Allan Park suggesting that he was an assistant in the office of Eric Sinclair Bell. He is probably the same person who was registered as a student in 1936.

From before 1948 until after 1953 he worked in the County Architect's Department, Haddington but was still registered as a student. He was elected ARIBA in 1953. By 1960 he had moved to the City Architect's Office in Dundee and by 1970 he was working for Fife County Architect's Department. He is no longer listed in 1979.

Gray died on 16 January 1997, survived by his wife Edna Agnes Collins.
