Basic Biographical Details

Name: Robert Harvie (junior?)
Designation:
Born: 15 February 1891
Died: 31 August 1918
Bio Notes: Robert Harvie was born on 15 February 1891, presumably the son of Motherwell architect Robert Harvie and his wife, who name is unknown. He studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1908 to 1910, and in the Post Office Directories of 1909 he is listed with a business address of 170 Hope Street; this must have been the office in which he was articled, but the firm has not yet been identified.

His father emigrated to Canada in 1912 but the younger Harvie appears to have remained as his business address in 1914 was 8 Clyde Street, Motherwell, the same as that of his father's practice of Harvie & Rankin, in which he had presumably taken his father's place, perhaps to complete the work in hand. No further details are known of him after that date; he probably joined his father in Canada.
