Basic Biographical Details

Name: David Girdwood
Designation:
Born: October 1887
Died: 1 January 1970
Bio Notes: David Girdwood was born in October 1887. He studied at Glasgow School of Art in 1906-07 and was apparently articled to John Archibald Campbell. After WWI, he became a hill farmer (tenant at Marbrack, Carsphairn) - presumably badly affected by his experiences in France as an officer in Highland Light Infantry (attached to Scottish Rifles).

Circa March 1939, he submitted a design for a bungalow on grounds of Williamwood, his home 1930-1946 near Annan: submitted to County Clerk at Dumfries, but not built (due to ban on new building before outbreak of WWII).

He died on 1 January 1970.
