Basic Biographical Details

Name: William Dobson
Designation:
Born: 1882 or 1883
Died:
Bio Notes: William Dobson was born in 1882 or 1883, presumably in Glasgow, the son of Robert Dobson, a mason with the North British Railway from Tranent. He was the younger brother of David Bennet Dobson (born 1871) whom he had joined in partnership by 1907 as D Bennet Dobson & Co. In 1907-08 their combination practice of architecture and publishing became the Scottish College of Architecture, an over-ambitious development to which the Glasgow Institute of Architects took strong exception. The Dobsons appear to have left Glasgow in the following year.
