Basic Biographical Details Name: | Benjamin Marcus Priteca | Designation: | | Born: | 23 December 1881 | Died: | 1 October 1971 | Bio Notes: | Benjamin Marcus Priteca (generally known as B Marcus Priteca) was born in Glasgow on 23 December 1881 but was educated in Edinburgh at George Watson's College until 1904. He was articled to Robert Macfarlane Cameron and attended Edinburgh University, graduating in 1907. He subsequently emigrated to the USA, settling in Seattle in July 1909 and commencing practice on his own account. He became a prominent theatre and fantasy cinema architect, designing over 150 such buildings for four different companies throughout the United States and Canada, including a number for theatre owner Alexander Pantages. He moved to Los Angeles in 1922 but returned to Seattle in 1929, and continued to design significant buildings well into the 1960s.
