He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1950. He was still a student in 1953. He was elected ARIBA in 1959.
Bunton worked for East Kilbride New Town Development Corporation from about 1960 and continued to do so, probably until the Corporation was wound up.
Bunton was married to Isabella Crawford O'Neil Dick.
