Basic Biographical Details

Name: Daniel Macandrew junior
Designation:
Born: 1856
Died: 15 June 1893
Bio Notes: Daniel Macandrew junior was the son of Daniel Macandrew, architect, Aberdeen and his wife Margaret Dundas Oswald Hall. He probably served his articles with his father; he is described as an architect and builder. In the 1880s Daniel Macandrew senior had formed a partnership with A Winchester. However on his retirement about 1887 A Winchester withdrew and set up business on his own account. Daniel junior took over the business with James A Smith as partner.

Daniel junior lived with his parents at Vinery Lodge, Cults, Aberdeenshire but latterly had moved to a house of his own at 24 Polmuir Road, Aberdeen. He predeceased his father, dying in a gas explosion at his new house at 24 Polmuir Road on 15 June 1893. He was survived by his wife Edith Ann Newton (or Robertson) whom he had married at St Mary's Cathedral Edinburgh on 29 December 1885. James A Smith carried on the business as sole partner, still trading under the name D Macandrew & Co. The business was still operational in the 1930s.
