Bio Notes: George Pratt Boyd was born 1884 in Berwick on Tweed, the son of Andrew Boyd and his wife and Georgina Gray, youngest daughter of William J Gray, architect and brother of William J Gray junior, also an architect. According to her descendants, Georgina was also an architect and presumably worked in her father's office.

George Boyd joined his uncle, Gray junior, in practice, first as apprentice in around 1901 and later as partner when the practice was known as William J Gray & Nephew. The name changed to Gray & Boyd around 1906.

He married Mary Gillie Smith Marshall in 1911. The couple had one daughter Mary M Boyd, born in 1913. During the First World War he served with the 2nd battalion Irish Guards but was killed in action on 3 Sep 1917 Ypres.
