Bio Notes: William Joshua Belton Perkin was the son of William Perkin of Leeds. He was articled to his father's practice of Perkin & Backhouse for five years, and was taken into partnership after its dissolution in 1865, the practice title becoming Perkin & Son. Another son, Henry Perkin, was articled to the new partnership in the first year of its existence, and was taken into partnership himself in 1871. William Perkin the elder died on 17 March 1874. Henry entered into partnership with George Bertram Bulmer three years later.
