Bio Notes: Alexander Skirving junior was born at Chestnut Cottage, Langside, on 26 Sseptember 1890, the son of Alexander Skirving, architect, and his wife Ellen Charlotte Woodward. He was presumably articled to his father and studied at Glasgow School of Art 1909-15.

Skirving continued his father's practice until at least 1940. He married Jeannie Spiers Buchanan: they had a daughter, Mary, he died of arterio sclerosis and heart disease at Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow, 7 July 1958.
