Basic Biographical Details Name: | Deane & Woodward | Designation: | | Born: | 1851 | Died: | 15 May 1861 | Bio Notes: | Sir Thomas Newenham Deane was born at Cork on 15 June 1828, the son of Thomas (later Sir Thomas) Deane, architect. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin and joined his father's practice in 1850. He must have had a practical apprenticeship in parallel as he and Benjamin Woodward (born 1815) were taken into partnership in 1851, the practice name becoming Deane, Son & Woodward, quickly shortened to Deane & Woodward, after the elder Deane withdrew from an active role in the practice.
Deane & Woodward were closely linked to Ruskin and his circle in Oxford and were the leading exponents of Ruskinian Gothic until Woodward's death on 15 May 1861. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | Dublin, Eire | Business | | | |
