Bio Notes: James Milne was born c.1894 and studied at Glasgow School of Art and later the School of Architecture there. He appears to have been articled to Miller & Black in 1912 and remained there as an assistant. He sat the qualifying exam - or may have been elected under the war exemption scheme - and was admitted ARIBA in mid-1921. He did considerable valuation work for his firm in war damage repairs and for the Glasgow Building Society. He specialised in ecclesiastical and factory architecture. For twenty-five years he was head of the continuation classes in building construction at Glasgow High School.

Milne was made a partner with Miller & Black shortly before his death aged fifty-five on 5 January 1949.
