Bio Notes: James McBride (or Macbride) was a carpenter who practised as a builder-architect in Elgin. His wife was Agnes Laing and they had at least two daughters and five sons.

He died aged 60 on 7 October 1845 (Colvin erroneously gives date of death as 1846). He is commemorated on a tombstone in the churchyard of Elgin Cathedral.
