Bio Notes: William Patrick Hendry was born in Glasgow in 1865 and took classes in civil engineering at the University of Glasgow while articled to the engineers and architects Wharrie Colledge & Brand c.1881-85. He emigrated to New South Wales as assistant to the Government surveyor for Clarence District and set up practice as an architect in Sydney, in partnership with Bristol-born architect Albert F Myers (born c.1846) in 1889. He continued the practice after Myers' death in 1892 but by 1899 losses had obliged him to seek employment with the Queensland Public Works Department, where he was later to work under J S Murdoch. He retired in 1933 and probably died c.1941 when his name was deleted from the Register of Queensland Architects.
