Bio Notes: William Alexander Wood was articled to Arthur Hay Livingstone Mackinnon of Aberdeen from July 1920. In September 1924 he embarked on the two-year Diploma course at Aberdeen School of Architecture followed by a post-Diploma year there. He sat the qualifying exam in July 1927 and was admitted ARIBA on 5 December 1927, proposed by Robert Gordon Wilson, junior, George Watt and William Edgar Gauld. At that time his address was given as Menie Schoolhouse, Balmedie Schoolhouse, Aberdeenshire which may suggest he was working in independent practice from his home address. By 1930 or 1931 he was working in the Architect's Department of the Durham Education Authority. By the mid-1930s he had returned to Aberdeen, where he worked in the office of T Scott Sutherland, assisting on the Astoria Cinema in Kittybrewster. He later worked for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland, where he was a colleague of John Hutcheon Donald.
