Bio Notes: James Charles Clark was born in 1902. He served his articles with Kelly & Nicol in Aberdeen from September 1919 whilst at the same time attending evening classes at Aberdeen School of Architecture. From September 1922 he studied full-time at the School of Architecture and in June 1925 had completed the post-Diploma course. During his summer holidays he spent time travelling in England and the south of Scotland studying ecclesiastical architecture. He sat the qualifying exam in July 1925 and was admitted ARIBA on 30 November of that year, his proposers being John Wilson Walker, John Alexander Ogg Allan and George Watt. By about 1930 he was an Associate of the Aberdeen Society of Architects, at which time his address was 258 Great Western Road, Aberdeen.

He probably moved to England to work by 1939 or 1940 as his name does not appear in the RIBA Kalendar as a member of the Aberdeen Association of Architects at that date. Clarke was living in Epsom, Surrey by the mid-1950s. He died on 17 August 1988.
