Bio Notes: James Newlands was a builder, contractor and quarryman working in Elgin in the last decades of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century. He appears to have drawn up the plans for a number of villas. He worked on William Kidner's alterations of Lesmurdie House and may have obtained design ideas from Kidner.
