Bio Notes: Joseph Spain commenced independent practice in Sunderland in 1895. He was a qualified surveyor as well as architect. He was county valuation officer in Newcastle and Co Durham before moving to a similar post in Wakefield c.1932. He died there on 12 March 1935.
