He was Diocesan Architect for Chichester, consulting architect to the Incorporated Church Building Society and the London Diocesan Fund, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He wrote a number of books and papers on ecclesiastical architeccture and archaeology.
