Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Gall | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | 29 May 1837 | Bio Notes: | John Gall was probably a native of Aberdeen. He worked there as a builder, cabinet maker and architect from the early 1820s until the mid-1830s.
In 1827 he seems to have overstretched himself by purchasing shares in a variety of companies and vessels, and his estate was sequestrated. The shares in Aberdeen Town and County Bank, Aberdeen Gas Company, Aberdeen Fire & Life Assurance Company, the Vessels Betsy, Eagle, Friendship and Rambler were sold off by public roup on 13 June 1827. However his business was not unduly affected by this and he continued to practise at the same addess in Aberdeen until his death on 29 May 1837.
Gall was presumably an adherent of the Roman Catholic Church judging by his known commissions and the fact that both his sons, Henry and John, were Roman Catholic priests. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | Aberdeen, Scotland | Private | | | | | Lobban's Court/30, Castle Street, Aberdeen, Scotland | Business | Before 1824 | 1837 | |
