Bio Notes: Clare Arnold Clayton Greene was born in London. His father and grandfather were clergymen. He was educated at Lancing and moved to Newcastle-upon-Tyne at an early age, commencing independent practice in 1899. He began working in partnership and later set up his own separate practice in Sunderland, where he specialised in ecclesiastical and public buildings. He was a keen admirer of the work of Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens. He died on 28 February 1949.
