Bio Notes: Robert Ashton was born on 2 December 1906. He was articled to William Williamson of Kirkcaldy on 1 September 1923, and on completing his apprenticeship in 1928 moved to London to study at the Architectural Association. He passed the final exam in March 1932 and was admitted ARIBA early the following year, his proposers being Verner Owen Rees, John Grey and Howard Morley Robertson. At that time he was living at 30 Linton Road, Shoeburyness, Essex. Nothing more is known of him. He was perhaps related to J H Ashton of Dunfermline.

Ashton died in the aurtumn of 1985 at Southend on Sea. His death was registered in September of that year.
