Bio Notes: Joseph Lindsay was a mill engineer of Dundee. From 1865 or 1866 he worked in the partnership of Urquhart, Lindsay & Co. Lindsay had commenced his career in Pearce Brothers Lilybank Foundry and had worked in the engineering department of Gilroy Brothers Tay Works in the mid-1860s.

Lindsay died on 25 April 1897 and in his will is described as an 'engineer and iron founder, Somerville House, Dundee'.
