Basic Biographical Details Name: | William Caie Walker | Designation: | | Born: | 17 February 1902 | Died: | 1940s | Bio Notes: | William Caie Walker was born on 17 February 1902 at Torry, Nigg, Aberdeenshire, the son of James Walker, master of steam liners, and his wife Elspet Caie. He was articled to Jenkins & Marr of Aberdeen in 1919, spending three years with them whilst studying at Aberdeen School of Architecture, two years of his studies being in day classes. He received his diploma in 1924 and went on to obtain a post-diploma in 1930, meanwhile spending two years as assistant to Bradshaw Gass & Hope in Bolton, a similar period with Keppie & Henderson in Glasgow, and a year with G P K Young & Son in Perth. He was admitted ARIBA in late 1930 or early 1931, his proposers being Robert Leslie Rollo, Robert Gordon Wilson and George Morrison Hay. His nomination papers give no details of his current professional standing, only stating a private address of 'Elsinore', 261 Victoria Road, Aberdeen.
BY 1938-39 Walker had moved to a post in the City Architect's Department in Plymouth. He is no longer listed in the RIBA Kalendar for 1946-47.
