Bio Notes: Robert Neish was born on 17 July 1908, the son of James Crawford Neish, hotel keeper, and his wife, Anne Wilson Cock. He served his articles with R Carruthers Ballantyne & Taylor from 1926-29 and from the latter year until 1933 he studied full-time at the School of Architecture, Robert Gordons College. He practised with Andrew Ross Forsyth in Forres in the 1930s in a 'general practice'. From 1940-43 he served as sapper with the Royal Engineers. He entered local gocvernment servoce in 1943 and was still working in the Burgh Architect's Department in Inverness at the time of his election as ARIBA in 1947. He was proposed by Robert Carruthers Ballantyne, John Alistair Ross and James Blackburn.

He died aged 63 at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, on 6 January 1972. He was survived by his wife, Margaret Ross Mackenzie.
